SiR cluster, Installed but 1 problem

After 3 hours or so, I managed to install my jdm SiR cluster with the use of an ECU pin tool and a couple of connectors. One by one I transferred each wire to the new plug. Also replaced my VSS with an electronic one. Tach (9.5K redline) and Speedo (kmh) works perfectly by the way. Now here's the problem, Check engine light comes on when decelarating...I had the same problem before when I did a motor swap and didnt have the cable-run VSS and didnt have my speedo hooked up. After I installed the VSS it went away...How can I have the same problem when my electronic speedo is working fine. Is it possible to interchange the VSS connection and still work? I was kinda guessing on the connections, 3 wires, black (ground), yellow (switched power), orange (connects to cluster)...Not sure between yellow and orange. Should I swap em and see? :flash:

the orange is the check engine indicator, the yellow switches power to the cluster so thats right......you might try making shure the connection of the orange is solid, Id go in and rewire it. Try reseting the ecu as well, what vss are you running and from what motor is it running?

I played with it last night (that sounds funny or what)...Anyway, checked all connections and they were right then I replaced my ECU with a chipped one (9500 rev limit) just to see the tach potential...I just revved it passed 7K. No check engine light yet driving in this morning...hopefully the ECU did it. Naturally I had to unplug em to replace it, so in turn resetted the ECU...:flash:

i would have to say the ecu did it, because you converted to an electric vss, but the ecu is used to a cable one. so it didnt recognize the signal it got. and the chipped ecu takes away all that stuff such as rev limiter, vss, and a couple of other sensors im not sure witch ones, but if your chip took away speed and rev limiter i highly suggest buying msd with rev limiter. thats how my friend fishcat37 blew his first b16 a motor, 12k does damage.

Sweet - thanks guys! I am finally close enough with this swap stuff now that I can start looking for tolls and things like this. The rebuild is nearly complete...the only thing left is to put the alternator back on, now that I have the $1.65 crank pulley key  , and then bolt the flywheel and tranny back to the other side. then it is ready to drop in. I might actually have this done before it gets too cold out. :D

Yep I used an exacto knife removed the blade and it's mountiing piece. Modified the mounting piece to accept a tapered pin(piece of metal i had laying around) I modified both pieces using a rotary tool(dremel). It works like a charm.:)
