Front End Vibration...no Threads Tell How This Is Solved

Theres plenty evidence that awd Bravadas (99 in my case) develop the nasty front end noise that isnt related to engine rpm and usually becomes noticiable at 30-40 mph. Mine had the "transfer case shutter" when turning at low speeds real tight then whole vehicle shutters like its runnin out of gas. I had my transfer case fluid changed (whatever was in it was definately old transmission fluid with no metal shavings) and my shutter went away. WHAT ABOUT THE VIBE IN THE FRONT END? theres 50 threads on various sites and all everyone does is list what they changed and how it didnt fix it. My vibration gets louder when i apply brakes (weight transfer to front) and moves from side to side when i brake and turn the steerin wheel back and forth (like nascar drivers do before they go green :) ). the front drive shaft has little play in it and no visible wear, and the interior of the transmission is new-looking. its obvious that the vibe is front end; center of the vehicle (so its not bearing assemblys). Did anyone who had this problem ever fix it? :banghead:

I would check that the rotors are not warped. I also have experienced shuttering with another car I had and it was the Power steering pressure switch. It made the car shutter quite badly when turning.

As you have read its not that simple - you have to step thru all possible areas to isolate the cause.
1. Brakes - caliper slides greased, rotors round and not warped, no caliper hang up
2. Hubs good
3. Ball joints good and all steering components good - shocks too
4. Sway bar and A-arm bushings good
5. Drive shaft balanced and u-joints good
6. CV axles good
7. No rear vibration causing (seat of pants vs steering wheel vib)
8. motor mounts good
9. Then fuel or engine areas

I had a vehicle that would develope a shutter in the steering wheel above 35 mph and level off around 65 to 70 and would get worse during braking. After new rotors, rotating and balancing the tires and new struts, found out that the tires were out-of-round. The harder I hit the brake, the more violent the shutter.
