i have a 94 grand am se with the 3.1(along with blown head gasket) and wondering if anyone knows if a 3800 series II supercharged engine(out of 96-03 GP GTP, 98-03 bonneville SSEi, and more) will fit, or if i can make it fit.

and if it will fit, what will i need to successfully put it in(and make it run)?

can anyone help me?

Welcome to AF.

Try a search in the forums.
Its been discussed 10000000000 times and its more work then its worth.
Would be cheaper and easier to jsut go buy a SC GTP or Bonnie.

For instance, the PCM, wiring harnesses, new moounts(engine & trans) new axles, hubs, and probly a bunch of other stufff.

Besides the engine & trans, the wiring harness under the hood and parts of the interior. The PCM BCM.
New axles and hubs will be needed from the 3.8.
Then after you get all the wires hooked up, which can take up too 200 hours(unless you find someone who has done the same swap and has all the tecno info). Then you'll need to fab some way to mount the 3.8 hubs because they are bigger so thiers another 100 huors.

Then you'll need someone to interface the PCM and get things talking to each other so you can get spark and fuel delivery. This would probly need done by a GM tech or someone with some savy software to hack the PCM/BCM.

And I'm sure I've forgot a thing or two. Its pretty involved process.
Not like the old days where you could just pull a motor and throw in a bigger one and go all in the same day.

I dont realy have any links for this, search the Grand Prix forum or post there. I'm sure some of those guys will have some sites for a 3.8 swap because older GP had a 3.1 .

Good Hunting!

Then you might not have as much trouble.
But even a Tech can get stumped now and again ;)

btw- I think your 3.1 can be bored out to a 3.6-3.8, though you wouldnt have a SC :D

Let me know how it goes!

i planned to start after i got out for summer....but last week i found a guy planning to put a late second-gen camaro into a derby. i told him to stop and asked if he would rather trade me and just put my GA in it. he's gotta check some rules(shouldnt be a problem) so now im tradin my 94(remember blown head gasket) for a 78-81(not sure what year) camaro. im happy, and it even runs
