HI!
What sort of clues would I look for or listen for when my car would be in need of the following:
1 - New brake pads AND rotors.
(don't you usually hear a grinding sort of noise when the rotors are in need of replacement?)
2 - New secondary air pump value
(is there a kind of gurgling noise?)
3 - New thermostat
(would in gauge inside of the car show anything unusual?)
:D
Thanks in advance.

The brake light should light up on the dash when the pads are wearing out. They have a wire on them that grounds to the disc's when the pads get thin.
The thermostat should hopefully not give you any problems. If it does it will generally do one of two things, either stick open - engine will run cold - take a long time to heat up, or stick closed - the engine will overheat - not good.
