2001 intrigue 100k miles.
All of a sudden, my overdrive is not working. I noticed it when the tac was showing about 3500rpm as opposed to around 2100 when at 70 mph. I have had the fluid checked regularly but have never had a flush/service. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

Any Service Engine Soon or Service Vehicle Soon lights?
Check the fluid level, this can simply happen because of being low on fluid.

the splines on the shaft for overdrive may have stripped out, you might be needing a trans repair

No service engine lights have been on. I checked the fluid level the way the owners manual prescribed and it might have been a "bit" low but certainly in the hashed marks of the dipstick.

I had the OD go out in my 98 @ 160,000. Had to suck it up and put a remaned one in to fix it. $$$ Its time to decide if you want to put $2000 into your car or just trade and get something else.

Occasionally when the transmission is cold mine refuses to shift into overdrive. All I do is push the gas until it goes down into 2nd and let off the gas. It then will upshift into od.

I am assuming that because yours is a '98 you have the 3.8L and the 4T60-E transmission. My wife had a similar problem on the same tranny. After running the car with "slightly" low fluid for probably 3 months, the car stopped shifting into overdrive. It eventually got worse so that it had trouble shifting out of gears. Sometimes things would work fine, but not ususally. The problem was later diagnosed as a corroded check valve ball. The solution was a rebuid that cost around $500 US. I hope yours is a simpler problem.

Not that this really has anything to do with the problem, but the transmission in question isnt a 4T60-E its a 4T65-E, the latter started being used in 97.

HI! this is my first post.... and one annoying question: how much did you pay for your rebuilt and is this a recurrent problem on the intrigues? I've 98 3.8
