I had to disconnect the trunk light on my caprice for now because it wasnt going out when the trunk lid was lowered. how does the light go out when the lid is lowered? i know theres no switch or anything and what should i check?

There is a mercury switch in the lamp base itself - this might be the problem.

Mine worked but I hated how the light flickered evertime you bumped the trunk lid. So I installed a bright white 15" neon tube under the area where the back window is and installed a switch similar to one thats in the glove box. Voila! A well lit trunk, with no flicker that shuts off when the lid shuts.

thats a good idea, i may look into doing something simmilar. where did you mount the switch? by the rubber weather strip?

Yeah, down on the lower driver's side in the general area of the little round bumper.
