Help with rust PLEASE

well, I started attacking the rust on my rocker panel (right in front of rear wheel) today. It is a lot worse than I thought (but still not too bad). Does anyone know whay that is a bad rust spot, I kno water must get in there, but from where or what? Also, I think I am going to use some rust attacker (like naval jelly or something) then some rust converter (this is all INDSIDE the rocker panel) Then do a fiberglass patch. When that is all done, I wanna do something so it won't rust anymore, what do ya think, expanding foam, rust proofing spray? I dunno, this is the first time I have ever done body work, and I am a little lost. Someone please give me some tips

Once your car begins to rust you can't stop it. Once it's there it's there for life. You can grind it down and filler the holes with weld, bondo or fiberglass but it will come back, maybe a year maybe 6 months. As far as a rust proofing spray thee best thing to use is spray oil up in the wheels a few times a few but since you had it just deal with it alwyas going to be there.

Your supposed to grind all the rust away and then you can use the bondo with fiberglass to fill it in and then regular bondo to smooth it over. However it can come back. The real way is to cut out the metal and weld in a new piece.

Yeah, when I got my car painted, I knocked out all the rust, and bonded it, and the rust came back about 6 monthes later.. So I think the only way to truely get rid of it is to cut out the metal and weld a new piece in...

The rust comes through the back so maybe if you coated the wheel well in something, especially around the problem areas it would stop it coming back for a longer period of time.
