I recently purchased a 2002 z71 silverado 1500. it had some electrical gremlins, couple blown fuses, burnt out lights etc. i did the 4 headlight mod and then the 8 light mod. during this whole time my DRLs have not worked. I read something about a DRL diode. My drl light in the dash(if there even is one on this year) doesn't work either. I checked all the fuses and relays that are associated with the DRLs and they all seemed fine. I do not hear the relay click on for the DRL though when I short the green abd black wire to ground as stated that i should in the how to for the 8 light mod. also there is no power to the light outlet. is there a way that I can jumper a wire from somewhere to the harness for the DRL to get it to stay on all the time? What is the drl diode under the dash and where is it located? is there anything else I should check? i would appreciate any help here guys as i am stumped. thanks

Check to make sure the bulbs are not blown, and the the wires to the bulbs have not been cut. Some people hate the DRLs and will do anything to get rid of them.

And if that doesn't work, try hitting your Dome overide button 4 or 5 times in like 3 seconds or whatever it is. Might just have the Auto On disabled.

I don't think the drl dashlight came in play until 2003.

I'm a bit confused though. I understand you want the DRL's to come on with the other lights. But you're saying the DRL's aren't working at all?

Don't forget you have to be in a drive/reverse for them to come on. I'm not sure about neutral, that may work too. I can't remember. It's been too long.:screwy:

when i originally replaced the bulvs i put 3157 bulbs in, they didnt work. i ordered some 4114 bulbs from ebay and they did work, now i am really confused... at least they work now. i also turned my relays the right way, if that even matters. according to the cap of the fuse box they should be a certain way and almost all of them were backwards. i didnt notice a change in anything else. thanks for the help!:grinyes:
