OK... so i havent posted here in about... what... 6-9 months? :nono: :nono: :nono:
BUT its time for an update on my life, i started here asknig if i should get an NSR150 once :P?
but onto my story, i bought a 87 gpx250 about a year ago, put 15 000km on it just commuting, having fun, learning to scrape pegs by accident etc :P.... finally got to the point where i could keep upto the 600 boys in the mountains on rideouts, BUT... that poor little bike is long gone after too many issues...
so i got kicked outta home, sold that wreck, moved in with my GFwho rides a zzr250, and then went bike shopping :D
i got a 1982 yamaha xz550 vision, kinda rare in austalia, but more common in america and japan i hear... brilliant condition, 40 000km, number 0000629 WITH the orignial motor, runs great, PERFECT fairings which makes it even rarer since most that are here are the unfaired version.... bought this little gem for.... 900 dollars, with newish staintunes already fitted :)
preparing to partly restore it, respraying in a non-oem colour since im deciding to keep it for a while *even though i can sell it for 4500 registered!!!* but ... yes, royal blue with plenty of clear, already repsrayed the frame gloss black and about to respray the motor after its given a nice service and a tune.
since the staintunes also pee me off, eventually we will be going with twin kerker pipes, and new headers and midpipes, rejetted of course but stock airbox to keep the nice tourquey midrange.
and once this is on the road im looking for a cafe racer or similar project. somthing cheap, although my ideal bike would have to be a 1982 honda cb750, completely cafe'd with a Wiseco 5mm overbore piston kit in it, to bring it up to 890 cc :D

Why not do that one cafe?
If it's the equivalent of the XJ550 we had here, I've seen a few really slick looking cafe racers made from them...

actually it should be, since the XJ650 shares nearly the exact same frame, same shaft drive and wheels and forks, just a different motor and rear suspension....
ill check out stuff on the XJ550's thanks.

I looked up some pics and was surprised, it's not what I thought...a very cool bike! I like it! I don't remember them having a model like that here, but it may have slipped by me...
There's a couple done cafe/sport in these pics...

It looks similar to the Honda Sabre in naked trim (although Honda never offered the Sabre with lowers).
