horn wont work

the horn on my 90 tauras wouldnt work unless you pushed up on the steering wheel and the button at the same time. i took off the airbag and the front of the steering wheel and there is a plastic piece holding the wires down.i pulled that out and the horn worked fine then just stopped when i put it back together so i did the samething taking it apart but no luck this time any ideas please let me know.

You'll need to check those wires with a meter. The good news is that you basically have it already isolated.

You are referring to the horn contacts. Ford sells them separately and you can replace them quite easily.
