Whack the Starter?! Gol Darnit!

Someone help! My girlfriends '95 Sentra is acting like a little child. She drove it in traffic for about an hour yesterday, stopped to fill up the tank (as the vehicle had asked), went to start it up and NOTHING! The dash lights light up, and there is a faint click, but no turning of anything. It sure is not the battery, 'cause we replaced that (it needed it anyway, and it was a good excuse to have her finally replace it). It is about 30 miles from here, and I all I am looking to do is get it started and back home so I can take care of it. I have read on other forums to just WHACK the starter with a wrench to get it going. What do ya all think? And where can I find the starter on this thing?

i've heard that. i'd say that whack is a strong word. i'd do more of a tap. but either way, i definitely have heard that.
