Why 19" rims

Call me skeptical, but I would think that increasing the rim and tire size by too much actually hinders performance. Does anyone have before and after track slips to prove bigger is better.

Also, does anyone know where I can find the stock engine curve?

Bigger isn't better :-/ I'd be happy to ride around on some 17's...but people say that leaves too much gap. All I gotta say to that is: Tein is coming out with the Flex dampers for the 350z ;)

Depends on what you are planning on doing. For drag racing, bigger diameter and weight is not better. But you can buy 19" rims and put a smaller profile tire to keep the overall diameter the same. There are also lightweight rims that will be as light if not lighter than the stock rims. So it all depends on how you do it. A set of 19" TE-37's with lower profile tires will be better than the stock set-up for track use. And the difference will be more apparent on the track because of the larger contact patch of the wider tire. If you are just drag racing, then its all about diameter, width, and weight. Remember you want to keep the overall diameter close to stock and the weight as low as possible. So you could go 17 or 18 depending on your preference. 17" lightweight rims will probably be a better bet because the tires will have a larger sidewall which is better for drags.

Anyways, the Z was made for the track not the strip. Thats why people are doing 19's. And looks wise, 19's look alot better and most people would agree with that.

Ya..I guess it's all up to the application. I had the racing in mind...but a lot of track cars in the JGTC use 18's or 19's..

they use 18's and 19's in jgtc to accomodate the huge brakes they use. and by any means i dont think a 19" wheel will get better handling than a 16 or 17". just because the 19 is big doesnt mean it has a larger width. you can get 17" with a large width, for more contact.

Can anyone tell me what's the recommended width for 19'' wheel for 350z?

I was thinking along the line of 19x8.5 (F) and 19x9 (R). Would it require too much negative camber? Need help

I may go 19 or 20. Look at it this way...99% of you will never see a track or achieve speed or cornering to notice a difference in wheel size..most people buy a car to look good in and small rims went out in the early 90's. I dont care how low you lower the car or what there is no replacement for the look of bigger wheels. Notice all auto manufacturers went towards offering bigger wheels stock and just think how far behind the industry is from the actual trend. It makes no logical sense to replace an 18 inch stock wheel with and 18 inch aftermarket wheel. or 17 for a 17, Waste of money. Just my opinion.
