Strut brace

Hey friends,

I just threw on a strut brace from PCP.com on my '98 GP GT. none of the holes fit up so i had to grind alittle of the bar away. Question being, what should the torque settings be on the nuts for the suspension towers, or does it not matter so long as they're rather tight? currently they're tightened as hard as can be by hand, but this may be "too tight" from what ive been reading. Also, theres a slight gap in the ring for the brace (showing in the 2nd link) could this be a problem?

The book specifies 24 ft-lbs at all three points. But the strut brace may change what you torque the strut plate nuts down to.

What most people do is torque to the initial 24 ft-lbs. After the suspension settles after driving the car then adjust the nuts (X2) at the brace only in additional 5 ft-lb increments to no more than 40 ft-lbs.
