2002 Trailblazer running rough

I have a 2002 trailblazer and today I was driving back from the store when the throttle drop out (no response). I pulled over and it was still running. I managed to get back home by waiting for the throttle to pick back up after it dropped out. I borrowed my neighbors code reader and pulled 2 codes. P0014-Cam Position Actuator Bank 1 timing over advanced and P0105-Map/Baro Circuit Malfunction.

I have checked all the fluids and all are full. Has anyone experianced this problem? Are these parts easy to find and change?

You cannot just replace these parts. You need a full scan to see what the issues are here. The cam position actuator is internal on the front of the engine, varies the cam timing per commands from the pcm, the map sensor should be checked for proper vacuum to it for starters.

Max: I took my Trailblazer to the dealer and had it checked out. The dealer informed me that the Cam Actuator needed to be replaced and replaced it. After picking up my Trailblazer and driving 14 miles it starting backfiring, sputtering and the throttle dropped out. Had it towed back to the dealer, they checked it out and found no codes. They changed the oil and filter and test drove for 20 plus miles and had no problems. Well I picked it up yet again and only made it 10 or so miles this time. It's now back at the same dealer and yet again they claim they found no codes and had no problems when they test drove it. I am at the end of my rope here. If I pick it up and it fails again what do I do?

You will get a 'reduced engine power' dash light/icon if indeed the throttle is dropping out. Being electronic throttle control, the most common issue is the accelerator pedal position sensor. There are two throttle position sensors integrated within the throttle body itself. The whole throttle body has to be replaced if those are completely inop. The most common cause of phantom stalling, no-start, erratic dash lights, electrical issues, is a bad ignition switch. VERY common on these trucks. As fas as the cam phaser actuator solenoid, the variable exhaust valve timing on the 4.2L has low/hi stops, such that it shouldn't cause the severe symptoms you get.

Agreed, First I would ask for a credit for the ineffective repairs, the truck is the same as when you brught it in, second someone has to spend the time driving this with the scanner hooked up. Throttle drops out means what, it dies, or there is no throttle response, it will only idle? This link shows the map code parameters.http://service.gm.com/gmspo/mode6/pdf/2002/2002file2.pdf A problem with that sensor could cause your symptoms, so could the throttle sensor as the pcm looks at false throttle opening inputs and assumes a certain map reading and it does not match up, again a road test with the scanner when the condition occurs will reveal this, it is a time consuming process.

Did you ever figure it out?? Just curious.
