Mileage and sportshift?

I was wondering how long 5th generation preludes tend to last? Mine is at 131,000 miles right now.
Also, I do drive the automatic one and was wondering how safe is it driving it in the sportshift modes? I tend to drive it physically moving it from gear one to four while rarely using the 'tap up and down' mode.

You bought a Prelude with the SS tranny because you can row thru the gears as well as let the box think for itself. My 99 has 29k on it and has seen some serious track time this year. The transmission shifts great in both D4 and SS mode. You have a lot of miles on yours.
I would suggest that, if you haven't yet, take the car into a dealer and have them do the full tranny service. This is supposed to happen every 3 years or 45K anyway. They will reverse flush and put 7 quarts of new fluid in. That is a good start and peace of mind too. Other than that you are good to go for some time. I might add that there have been a number of 5th gen SS tranny failures-for various reasons, but the newer ones don't seem to have this issue as much as the first group.
