1998 Tc Blend Door Replacement

have anyone ever replaced the blend door actuator and if so how did u do it and also how many blend doors are there so i can narrow it down to find out exactly which one is broken so i dont have to keep spending money please help

There are several "doors", but only one Blend Door. Therefor, only one Actuator is going to be replaced.
Here's two Tech Articles written by folks while they were doing the job.. these are older Town Cars, but the process is the same.

Hello
It's deep in behind the dash on the passenger side on top of the heater box. Steve sent some good links with pictures, that white box is it. I don't remember having to remove the entire dash to get to it. Good luck

would a blend door actuator cause the following :
AC runs until cabin reaches set temp. then the air warms up and fan slows for quiet operation as usual. as the cabin heats up further from driving or sunlight, the fan speeds up; however no air blows out.
ive checked to see where the air is going, but its not coming from the defrost, the panel, or the floor vents. but the fan is running on high.
once i turn the car off for a few mins and restart, it all starts over like normal

Well, that doesn't sound like a Blend Door problem..... Did you get a "Blend Door...." error when you ran the diagnostics?
Sounds more like this one:
o Improper/Erratic Direction of Air Flow from Outlet
Possible Source(s):
No vacuum to the A/C control.
A/C control leaks vacuum.
Airflow door binding or stuck.
Vacuum hose, kinked or pinched.
Vacuum control motor.
A/C vacuum check valve.
A/C vacuum reservoir tank and bracket.
Vacuum actuator arm not connected to the door crank.
Action(s) to take:
GO to «Pinpoint Test C».
Each one of the following tests branches off into great detail, for example C1 details Blower On High, Hit Defrost, Hit Vent, Hit Floor, Etc.. each step ends in Go or No Go, and another branch.
Do you have this manual?
Sorry, just had an afterthought.. Re-reading what you said about there's no problem at start-up.... got me thinking there could be a vacuum leak somewhere. I wonder if this problem occurs under a high vacuum situation such as deceleration down a freeway hill :) Are there any other problems like the Power Brake working strangely?

C10: CHECK THE AUTOMATIC PARKING BRAKE RELEASE FOR LEAKAGE
C11: CHECK THE VACUUM RESERVOIR TANK FOR LEAKAGE
C12: CHECK THE VACUUM HARNESS FOR LEAKAGE
C13: CHECK THE CONTROL ASSEMBLY FOR LEAKAGE

O yes first generation car, a lot of us guys have the second generation. I am not that famaliar with the older ones. The oldest I have owned is the 91. I might still have some old shop manuals, I'll look and see if I can find any other helpfull info.

Anyway, thanks for the exercise :) I'm sticking (no pun intended) to my suspicion of a Vacuum problem. Like Mike, I'm not sure where your steel cables end and Vacuum controls begin.
You don't hear any faint hissing from Vacuum being lost? Also, Way back when, there used to be a large coffee can under the hood used as a vacuum reservoir for these controls.... just an idea...
