New tires, now brakes don't click when applied hard & fast

Hi, I recently had new tires put on my 2005 Town & Country. While they were finishing up the job. One of the employees mentioned that they had to make an adjustment because of the ABS. Then he came back and said it wasn't neccessay on my model.

I just noticed that when I apply the brakes fast and hard, that they no longer give that clicking sound and the brake pedal doesn't jerk your foot as you apply pressure fast and hard.

Did they mess something up just by removing and replacing my tires? Need an answer quick so I can go back and have them fix it if it was their fault.

I am on my third set of tires on my '96 and ABS still works, call or go by and ask them what they did, did they disconnect one of the ABS sensors?

They broke something, always be wary when someone says "they made an adjustment"

You won't get the clicking sound and jerking pedal unless one of the wheels starts to slip and the abs kicks in (that's the way my vans abs works).
maybe your old tires were worn enough to lose their grip on hard braking.

Agreed you should not feel anything unless the tires start completly locking up and then the abs kicks in and you will feel vibration and shimmy as the the abs rapidly pumps the brakes .

So, let me get this straight. If I were to jam on the brakes, I will not hear the clicking sound or feel the brake peddal giving that jerking feeling if they are working properly.

When I jam on the brakes for a sudden stop, aren't all the wheels locking up?

If the ABS is working properly, the wheels should not lock up in a panic stop situation.
Go to some empty parking lot at a church or shopping mall and make some panic stops to see if it is working.

Good Morning Bernard, thanks for your input.

That is how I realized that they weren't functioning properly. I made a fast stop where I jamed on the brakes and didn't notice the clicking or the brake pedal jerking.

So I wrote into this forum to find out if just by having new tires installed could somehow be the reason for them not working properly.

This info will give you a better understanding of a abs system.

Hi Mrbizness1, thanks for that link, it does help explain the system and how it functions.
