does anyone know the settings, or how to go about finding how i should set my carb.
it starts fine, but the choke doesnt seem to come on after a press of the pedal.
once it runs a while, it starts to idle rough. and if i need to get down on it, she just chokes and wants to cut off.

Don't want to push you off, but there's not too many 70's guys here.
Generally speaking, the 70's were very turbulent times for Carbs. SMOG laws were changing several times a year and manufacturers were changing carbs 2 & 3 times a year on the same models just to keep up. It became imperative that the SMOG decals and Carb tags were necessary to perform tune-ups or order parts.
All that being said, I had an early F-250 with a monster 4-barrel -- it had three choke retractors (openers) attached and one large thermal spring to slam it shut. The adjustment process was very difficult to find ( dealer TSB's to supplement my repair manuals ) and even more difficult to nail it down.
Let me suggest a website (forum) (http://www.thelincolnforum.net/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=1) where 90% of the folks there have older Lincolns, you can take it from there :)
