Would anyone help me with this, I want to know if a 1997 Geo Metro L4 engine would be an exact match for my 1995 suzuki swift. Also the metro was stick transmision and mine has an automatic, would it still fit. And last would you tell me which other vehicles came with the same L4 engine as my swift that would be interchangeable; reading the threads, on one of them talked about the tracker engine. I would appreciate your help. Thanks,:banghead:

The 95 is OBDI and the 97 is OBII.

i did a swap like that except i put a 95 motor into a 97 metro, the 4 cyl one. everything was the same except the 97 car had the crank position sensor on the original motor so i used the engine harness and computer out of the 95. worked just fine. you should be able to put the 97 in your car and just not hook up the sensor. automatic engine should work just fine. just make sure you remove the spacer that goes between the flexplate and crank before you bolt flywheel on. you may have to change manifolds and dist to get it to work but thats not that big a deal. if you can look at other engine first just compare stuff and make sure everything looks the same

Ok, I just installed the motor in my car (95 swift 1.3 L), the motor is exactly the same, except for the intake manifold, in the upper part, right next to the air filter element, to the passanger side, is a twin harness concector on the 97 engine, but mine has a single conector, also the exhaust maniforld
the wiring harness is the same, except for the wiring colors but the conector fits, Would it work, The Distributor, conector was the same, you was recommending me to use the old one, could you explain why, and another difference and last, on the water inlet of engine were the thermostat housing, the conector there is completly diffrent, i think is for the fan thermic switch, and It doesnt has the gauge conector for the temperature, so i plan to put the old engine thermostat hausing to correct this. This were the differences I found, do you think that with this would be able to start de engine?
thanks for your help
