Hello All,
I was wondering if there are any thoughts or studies on this.
I live in a rural area and we rely on well water. As I put salt in my water softner, is the water supplied from this unit likely to be corrosive?
Thanks for any coments

You would think so and I'm no expert so it very well might be just that simple. But since you add salt to the water to soften it, then it shouldnt be as hard as say, hose water which wen it dries, leaves waterspots if your not using soap. And if your not using soap to wash your car, find the nearest blunt intstrument and hit yourself with it until you can no longer see straight.
But I digress. Since the water is softer, as far as I can tell, it shouldnt cause harm to the car. Because the concentration of salt is low enough to not create a problem. But I would reccomend for good measure to take it to a professional carwash or use something like the Mr. Clean Carwasher because it filters the water, making the need for salt to soften it obsolete. Just a thought.

I grew up on well water with a water softening system like you have using the big salt rocks. I washed and detailed my truck every weekend for several years and it seemed to work better than when we moved and had city water. Never had any corrosion, rust, or even water spots. Moved and got city water and had water spots after the first wash. So softened water shouldn't cause any problems as long as you do it good.
