Door Latch? Ugh.

I cannot unlock my driver's side door. When I turn the key, it does nothing, like something came disconnected. To open my drivers side door when locked, I have to open the passenger side door and unlock the driver's side door from the inside then walk back around if I'm alone. If someones with me, I will just ask them to unlock their side then open mine once they get in. Not only is this is a pain in the ass, but it can be emarassing to an extent, especially when there is a chick with me. What could be the problem? Latch came off under the door panel? If so, how do I get the door panel off without breaking the plastic bracket things?

If you can unlock it from the inside it seems like the latch is ok. The lock mechanism itself is probably worn out. Take off the door panel and take the car to a key shop.

Ill second that opinion..mine is the same way on the same side...opens from the inside but not the outside...I just used that as and excuse to buy a cheap power unlock kit...much easier than changing the locks..not only that you would have to change the ignition switch at the same time or have two different keys for unlocking and starting the car...to much of a pita and in an emergency you can unlock the passenger door if the auto unlock doesn't work

They have the kits on ebay for like 20-30, not too bad. I haven't had experience with them myself but I hear good things about them. Heres a write up for it, its a pretty basic install; you just need to take off your door panels and do some wiring.

like crxexperiment said they are only 20-30...I paid 30 bucks canadian...honestly the hardest part of the job is running the wires from the control module through the pain in the ass wire harness that goes from the inside of the car into the actual door...the actuators are so easy to put in...and everything is plastic..other than the module...probably a pound or two total for everything...I bought a four door module and used the wiring for the two extra sets of wires to run a power feed to my horn, and interior light so the car would be easier to find in parking lots..the outputs on the module are 12volts and everything is installed nice and clean
