1990 Corolla Catalytic Converter...HELP!

Short & simple...I failed my smog test. Idle speed too high. Had inspection done and they say I need to replace my catalytic converter. I have called around for estimates and many asked me same question. Is my catalytic converter welded in place or bolted? I have absolutely no idea. Does anybody out there know the answer????
