REGAL Fuel pressure problem

I got a 97 regal 3.8 supercharged and I am mechanically inclined but hopefully I can get some more help. I think I know it is a fuel problem because I can keep it running with starting fluid. Otherwise I start it and it dies right away. I put a fuel guage on it and it is getting 50 psi but when It starts and runs (for about 5 seconds) I see the guage drop down and it dies. The fuel press regulator is getting vacuum to it and the regulator itself holds vacuum. Ive swapped relays and checked fuses. There isn't any codes. just wondering what would cause this pressure drop. The fuel filter is new. I can keep it running if I send power to the Fuel Pump speed control relay (next to the fuel pump relay) Would I do any damage if I wired a wire to it that is hot only with the key on? What is supposed to power that?

The L67 SII 3800 has a two speed fuel pump (low and high). In addition to the fuel pump relay there is a fuel pump speed control relay which has a fuel pump resistor that can go bad causing low fuel pressure. Symptoms: car may start but run only a few seconds.
There is a bypass procedure for the resistor which can be done at the speed control relay and put the fuel pump in hi-speed mode. See tech procedure below.

Note: Speed Control Relay is marked 18 for the Regal.
