1997 extended cab - Towing - Opinions please

I am thinking about buying a 1997 3.9 Dakota used today. It's main purpose will be to tow my boat, and still have decent gas mpg for regular driving. My whole boat/trailor setup is just under 3000lbs, and from what I saw online the Dakota maximum is 3600lbs, so I beleive I fall reasonably within it's towing range.

What do you guys think? Will the dakota pull my rig reasonably well ? Will I be able to get up to full Highway speeds when I am heading to the beach with my boat? Just looking for some opinions before I go buy this today. Thanks!
