Subaru SVX

well, i just got a Subaru SVX. I have had it for barely 3 weeks, and i am running completely stock. I have recently beat a few local Camaro's, a stock GTO, and a semi-tuned civic. These races where 1/4 mile. As i race more and more modded cars i see myself barely winning, or getting dominated. I was wondering if anyone could suggest any simple screw on mods for a Subaru SVX 1992. (anywhere between $100-$300) Any constructive post would be appreciated.


P.S. Yeah i already posted on the SVX forums and it seems since the car is fairly rare, the forum is basicly dead.

No way a stock 3500lb AWD SVX with 230hp, that does 0-60 in 7.3 and the 1/4 mile in 15.5 would be a stock GTO.

He was racing, may have been racing scared but it was heads up 1/4 mile. It was a kid, and the gto wasnt takin care of from what i could tell. Anyways if u dont believe me then thats fine, i wont lose sleep over it.The race was setup we talked b4 hand and after. I am truely sorry that i didnt ask him how he lost.

those SVXs are like subies child they never wanted....nice and cool looking cars but to bad it was a one hitter quiter.....BTW that car stock is not beating any of those cars that you mentioned......sorry but just stating facts....

It's got to be some old beat up Pontiac Tempest with GTO badges, cause even an old '66 GTO with an orignal 389 with Tri-Power would of whopped some ass, taken names and wrote home about it.

i've seen the new GTO's run 15's with a horrible driver at the track.

:bs: those svx's are slugs. i hate to say it, but i beat one in my sentra, before the cai and catback, as that doesnt do much for increases anyway. maybe it wasnt never maintained.... beat him off the line badly, raced to 60. brake-tq ftw, as the guy just floored it when it hit green.

google image a pic of the so called 'gto' the only cars that i can think of would be a '66 gto, 04 gto, or the 95ish 3000gt with a 'gto' emblem on it. possibly even a dodge stealth with a gto emblem on it.

In Japan, they are known as the GTO. Actually, I think just about everywhere but the 'States call them the GTO. I used to have a good quote from SCC about why they changed the name.

Ok, for the comfort of everyone complaining, i thinks its worth it just to say i didnt beat a GTO or whatever else people do not believe. Its worth it to me just to say it and have some actually answer the question asked in my first post. Honoestly, i have no idea what kind of GTO it is, the kid is a co-worker of mine, and i will take some pics of it next time i see him.

You have no idea what type it was, but we just posted 5 pictures that it could possibly be. So, from that list, which one was it.

I guess out of the 5pics it resemble the first 1 the most, but that car in the first pic is way bigger than this car was. It didnt look like any of those honoestly, but out of those provided #1 is the closest, i will have an actually pic by this coming Sat.

I would have to agree with everyone else here. However, an old GTO with a tired engine isn't going to be that fast. Pair that with a possibly bad driver and I can see how he might have won.

We need to find out what kind of car it was first and what engine it had.

Agreed. I have been known to actually shift from 1-2-3-then D b4, but i have never gotten out of 3rd on 1/4. Even though it is supposedly Horrible on ur transmission.

Well, if it was that body style it had engines with as little as 200HP, and then considering age as well as other factors this is a very believable story IMO.

Agreed, the 71-74 GTOs where specially disapointing.
When I first got my GTO I went to a few old-schoolers meetings, some of thier cars dynoed as low as 165 whp! I stopped going though cause old-schoolers dont like the new Goats.

If he raced one of those then I can see him blowing its doors off. Thats why I held my piece till it was all cleared up.

Thnx man, i have actually been looking on this forum/cavalier forum/svx forum for quite awhile, just havnt posted many times. And the guy is supposedly coming 2 our local street spot. Talked 2 him today and he said he wasnt gonna make it to the track, but about midnight i can the actually pic of his car. Anyways thnx for the welcome... hope to be around alot. Thats what happens when you put a motor together with 7.0 to 1 compression you get 160hp out of a 350 that was making 325-350 two years before, compression ratio is huge in any kind of engine build.

and i have to agree, subaru was dumb to offer a 'high luxury car' only in automatic to compete with the TT, and others. the only place i got the svx in manual, was in 2002 sega gt. fully tuned it was still a slouch, due to the transmission gears are huge, and take the car out of its powerband.

Well, i havnt been able 2 post lately due 2 internet explosion, but everything is sorted now. Odo.....im not joking on cavi's i had 1 for about 8 months b4 i totaled it in a ditch and i am just 2 lazy 2 change my loggin name. But yeah this weekend i should be meeting up with a lot of local street racers and we gonna hang out, run-em a few...high variety of cars supposedly gonna be there. Maybe my slug as SVX will get its first legit death. ( 2000 Camaro gonna be out there that is gonna put me 2 shame if we go, looking to avoid him though.)
