Getting codes out of 03 Grand Am?

I am having trouble with our 03 Grand Am 3.4L. Yesterday she started it and went back into the house and when she came back out it had stalled. After this happened she remembered to tell me that the check engine light had come on sometime over the weekend but she couldn't remember when. Anyhow it is running again now but I want to pull the codes out of computer if I can. I found the post in the diagnosis page showing all the codes and it said you could still use the old wire trick to get the blinking light codes for older models, but can I do this with my 03, and if so is it doen the same, or is there any differences I need to know about?

The '03 definitely uses OBD II, and I'm not aware of a way of getting the blinking light codes. OBD II has many more codes than OBD I. If you take it to your local AutoZone, they'll scan it for free, as will lots of other shops.

Thank you, I think I'll have the wife stop on her way home tomorrow since I am going to be busy this week and don't want to put it off to long just in case it is something.
