why do you want to install a tach? what's wrong with the stock tach?

i dunno why, i just like the aftermarket tachs and plus i put a grant steering wheel on my 3S and it gets in the way of the Tach and Speedo and i put my after market one on the pannel by the window and i can see it better than the stock. and i like the way they look lol.

Shouldn't you be driving a Civic?

you could probably change all your thread names so far to "how to geto/rice out my stealth"... and have them all under that one topic.. I have a few stickers you can have if you want? one that says NOZ.. its the knock off of NOS but when you fly by.. people think it says NOS

I personally don't like aftermarket tach's, but thats just my opinion.

However, if you want to put it on your car, there are two ways to do it. You can either splice your rpm wire into your power transistor unit located by the coil pack near the front center of your engine bay (where all the spark plug wires go to). The ignition PTU has some writing on it by the pinouts, you'll want to splice where it says "tacho". See http://www.stealth316.com/2-pwrtransunit.htm for all the information you'll want to know about the PTU.

The second way to do it is if you don't want to run a wire through your firewall, to tap in by your ECU. Now you have a 95, which could either contain a fed-spec ECU or a cali-spec ECU. The fed spec has 3 harness connectors and the cali-spec has 4. Here is how to access the ECU http://www.stealth316.com/2-ecmremoval.htm. If you have a fed-spec, you will want to tap into the wire coming out of pin 101. If you have a cali-spec you will want tap into pin 58. See here http://www.stealth316.com/2-ecu94.htm for locating your pin numbers.

"Gay ass mustangs" do it because they actually make some real power and use the shift light that is attached to the tach. Their tach also doesn't go up as high as ours does. So if they do a motor swap for something that revs higher their stock tach is useless. That or they are rice, or corn, as well.

Ricer: Someone that adds things to their car to make them look fast, without ever making the car any faster. For example, 3000GT-R

You are a ricer

I take it "corn" is american cars that look fast??? and i plan on adding things to my car to make it fast, im just gettin the small shit out of the way first, plus my engine is burning oil anyways, im saving up for a twin turbo engine, but im just a little low on money to go out n drop a new engine in my car right now, but i WILL be adding things and doing things to it to make it faster though.

No, because you added -R after a car name that never came in an "R" version, which is something only ricers do. Adding type-R also seems to be popular. If your name was skyline GT-R it would be fine.

Good to hear you will be doing some performance stuff to your car.

So let me get this strate... you dont know how to install a tac... and you think you are going to do a turbo conversion??? or are you going to save up and pay someone else to do the conversion?

im gunna save up n prob let sum1 else do it so i dont fuck nuthin up, and i wasnt "adding an R" onto the 3S, its a combo of the 3S and GT-R i was just thinking of a name and thats what i thought of since i like the 3S's and Skylines, i KNOW there is no such thing as a 3000GT-R...

If that is the case.. most people would tell you that just saving up and getting the vr-4 is going to be the best option..

with all honestly, for the money you'll have to pay for parts & labor for everything, you'll probably come out at least the same, if not, cheaper, by selling the n/a and buying a vr-4. Plus you'll have AWD and avoid all the headaches that associate with problems that come.

reminds me of the mustangs that have an a-pillar gauge pod with a vacuum gauge and oil pressure gauge . . . cracks me up everytime.

I'm a big fan of the voltage gauges, or anyone that uses a narrow band o2 gauge and claims they have it for tuning.

Please don't buy a vr4...the fact that you are even remotely considering putting an 'R' badge on your car right now, makes me want to cry. The last thing we need is vr4-R pictures finding their way onto the internet. Our cars already have a bad rep of being heavy, to compete with...we don't need a ricer fanboy following as well.

Also please keep the language in check, and make use of vocabulary higher than the average 12 year old...I have faith that our public education still teaches adjectives more descriptive than 'gay ass'. Thanks.

IBL.
