what is your recommended oil and oil filter for a 04' V6 4.0L ranger with 10,000 miles or does it just come down to personal preference, if it helps I deliver pizzas for 4 hours a day, to make extra tax free cash, so I am starting the truck quite frequently

Check your owner's manual. It should tell you. If you start it a lot and drive it hard, definitely use Mobil1 5W-30. Great protection. You can let it go 10,000 miles or a year. Whichever comes first. I've got a 97 Subaru with almost 200K and that's what it gets at those intervals. Runs like a top. For superior protection, replace a quart of oil with LUCAS OIL TREATMENT. Get it at NAPA or any parts store.

Most of the posters on this Ranger forum say they use 5W30 oil. My '02 Ranger's 3.0L's oil fill cap says 5W20 as well as the owner's manual. Why the disparity?
