So i fried my first motor and i just bought a second motor for my 97 mali. Iv got an engine hoist to pull out the cooked one from under the hood. Ijust wanted to know if anyone here has done this on one before and had any tips for me before i go tearing into this after school today.

There are lots of tips and tricks I could suggest to you.

1) Modification is usually easier when the engine is outside of the bay. Make sure your plugs and wires and other hard to reach parts are well inspected and checked out before you drop it in. Such as the back 3 plugs!

2) Masking tape. wrap tape around every connection and number them. Once the old motor is out then you can compare the two and mark them appropriatly. Then make a list and reconnect in order. 1.. 2... 3... Nothing worse then findign out your new engine wont work because of something like a disconnected plug. :banghead:

3)Keep the old engine. Just in case you need a part. Belive me.. You'll be bashing your head later if you get rid of it and find you need a new oil pan.

I got a lot done yesterday basically all i have left to do to get the old engine out is unbolting the exhaust manifolds and unbolting the transmission. iv put all my bolts n different cans and marked wut they go to.Iv heard the best thing to do is stay organized.

If it's a used motor I'd try to find out if the intake gaskets are original. If they're not leaking yet they will eventually. (falls under #1 above)

Pull it out through the top. Youll have more room if you remove the hood. Just remember to mark the bolts for correct alignment afterwords.
