ABS Light on a 2002 Mountaineer

My ABS light came on, and I was wondering if its something I can fix, or do I need to take it to the shop? I did put a code reader on it but It didn't show anything, has anyone else ever had this problem? And if so, what did it cost to fix? Any info would be great,

You will need a scan tool with the capability to read the ABS codes. Typically, this capability is limited to the professional scan tools.

From the Explorer forum, a faulty rear wheel speed sensor is a pretty common problem area. The rear speed sensor is attached to the differential housing.

Thanks for the information. My ABS light just came on in my 2004. It has just over 40,000 miles. The owner's manual says to take it in to have the dealer look at it. Did the original poster have his checked yet, and if so, what was the result?
