hi all,

i have a 1996 jetta. 2.0, and it has 116,000 miles on it. recently the car has been idling rough and has stalled on me once. i have to put it in neutral to keep it running by stepping on the gas. any and all help would be welcome, before i take it in to be looked at. thanks in advance!

oh another thing before i forget. there is a small amount of black exhaust coming out as well and i smell oil. i just had the oil changed about 2 weeks ago and now all these problems start.

i also have noticed that it chugs along when i try to accelerate. when i get on the open road, everything is normal. sorry to sound confusing.!

Check for vacuum leaks just for general purposes.
Clean your idle stabilizer valve. This will probably stop the stalling.
Clean your mass air flow sensor to help with the sluggish acceleration.
Run some sea foam through it for GP's.
