Question about intermittent rough 1-2 shift on my 01 Malibu

My 01 Malibu has an intermittent rough 1-2 shift. My searching has led me to the pressure control solenoid. My question is, if it is the pressure control solenoid wouldn't all the shifts be intermittently rough? I have never had any other shifts except 1-2 be rough, all other shifts to the upper gears are firm and quick with no slipping or roughness. This only happens once the motor is good and hot and even then the problem comes and goes.

I have the same problem, but it happens hot or cold. It's been like this since I got the car two years ago. It only slips about 3/4 throttle; It is smooth accelerating slowly/liberally moderately, and silky smooth at WOT. I just easy off the gas 'til she engages 2nd and call it a day.

Who knows what it is?

I had the same problem. Turned out to be a short in the wiring for air intake temperature sensor. When the wires short out the computer is given an external temperature reading of -80F (or there abouts). The computer changes all the shift points, and timing for the engine because of the air intake temp reading. I had the repair done at my local shop cost me about $50.00 to have the wire that was shorting replaced.

Thanks, I already had that problem, IAT sensor harness went bad about a year agp. I replaced the harness and the constant hard shifting went away, but the intermittent rough 1-2 is still there. I'm pretty sure it's either the pressure control solenoid or the 1-2 shift solenoid. I'm a little frustrated with this car after 6 years, might just trade it in and be done with it. We just traded in my wife's 01 Altima for a 2007 Sonata, very solid car and there was a $2000.00 reabate which brought the price down from $20k to $15k after our deal and then we got $5500.00 in trade for the Altima. I might just go buy another Sonata on Monday and get rid of the Chevy.
