Need Help guys

On my 89 niety eight every once in a while i will be driving and i go through first gear and take my foot of the gas the car dosent coast right then after 1 or 2 seconds it klunks and keeps coasting fine almost like second gear just drops in its very anoying and i have no idea what it is.

Also when i try to start my car it wont start until i stop cranking it and and fires right up on the second try
