I have a 97 Ford Taurus with the 3.0L engine. It runs good, but is throwing the code PO 433 Evap Emission Control System Purge Valve C Fault. Does anyone know where I should start looking on this or what it means. Any help would be appreciated.

Please verify the code you are getting. I don't find a P0433 crossing to an Evap Emission indicator.
Was it maybe a P0443?

I also have this same year car with the P0443 code.
I pulled the purge valve off and verified electricly is was energizing and it actually blocked air when energized.
Would love some help on this one.

So you're getting a P0443 rather than the subject P0433?
P0443, according to the factory service manual, indicates a failure in the EVAP canister purge valve circuit.
Possible causes:
-- VPWR circuit open.
-- EVAP canister purge valve circuit open.
-- EVAP canister purge valve circuit shorted to PWR GND.
-- EVAP canister purge valve circuit shorted to VPWR.
-- Damaged EVAP canister purge valve.
-- Damaged PCM.
Were you bench testing the valve (wiring battery voltage to it), or testing for flow under PCM control?

Dalt1 did you find out what was wrong? We've got the same P0443 code here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=915913).

I have not figured it out yet!
The car runs fine and I checked all of the lines to ensure no leaks, replaced the fuel cap and still nothing.
I cleared the faults and it comes back within seconds of starting the car.
Someone has to know what to check!
Is there any way to use the ODBII handset to check something?

Tomorrow I will be replacing the EVAP purge canister valve, which is a large part of the P0443 code. I will let you know if it fixed it. I have used several ODBII testers. They have only helped give us the code (P0443). To trace it down further I think the tester needs to have a data stream feature. If the part I receive tomorrow doesn't fix our problem, then that will be what we use next.
