today i decided to be badass and to neutrel drop my 1990 limited jeep. well as soon as i did that, the wheels didnt spin, and all i got was a sitting duck. i would hit the gas but nothing, it was still in drive, just wouldnt go, so i put it in reverse. and it backed up just fine. so i drove it home on the 1-2 and the 3 gear. after a while i put it in drive onceit was going fast enough, and it was just fine. but how do i fix this problem?

Josh, I really feel for ya freind. So, I'm gonna help the best way I know how. With a joke. Srry...
So what 'cha wanna do is go ahead and get into the time machine that you've got there and go back to just before you "neutral-dropped" :banghead: your AW4 and give your past self a good solid 'THUMP' on the back of the head along with a short scolding on how an auto-trans/transfer case is nothing like a manual. Then hurry back to the time machine because you can only stay in the past for a fraction of a second before you get stuck there FOR-EV-ER!!! And THAT would be worse than what you might have to do now. xD
Seriously though, someone that knows better will be along shortly. . . :popcorn:Srry...
~Good Luck!!!

My dude!!! Hit up a jeep dealership, tell them that your girl did a N drop, and now the car is not working. that works. Blame it on the girl, and they will not look at you stupid.

No way any dude is gonna take a 1990 Jeep to a dealer......unless he wants to trade it in for a new Daimler.

well, new transmission is approx 2 grand, but a junkyard one may be 100 bucks. it also could be the transfer case as well. you might be better getting both at the junkyard. Iwas down at summit racing the other day and they have a engine and transmission together for 4 grand. really its a 4.2L 200hp plus. just a thought.

Like I said, a good trans shop should give you a good idea of the cost of repairing your trans... It is problably not the T-Case.
In my case...in my younger days...I would rebuild it myself. Or my brother could do it. That is why we worked as auto mechanics. It is all just nuts and bolts. Plus a little knowlege.

I do think it could be the tc b/c it could stop he transmission from turning. But it could be a bunch of other things as well. Anything is possable!

Well, if you've got nothing to lose, try some Trans Dr. or Trans X... Something
like that anyway. Comes in a quart grey/silver bottle, blue text? at Advance Auto. "Stops Slipping".. etc... Might buy you some time?
If not, get your hands dirty, and learn a few things, find some new friends to help out. After getting the diagnostic from at least two tranny shops.
OR! Figure out a way to charge it to your ins co... (insecure cooperative) LOL
