1985 302 CARBURATED, Latest mods - Edelbrock Air Gap Manifold, Cam, Aluminum heads. Problem: At lower speeds (20-30 mph) the car jerks or surges like your driving in 5th gear (stick) and your only in 2nd. tried to set the idle mixture settings and it helped alot but it there is still a slight jerking. I was told that I need a High Performance fuel pump because the stock one doesn't maintain a 5-6lb fuel pressure. Need a second opinion. Thanx in advance

If it was a fuel issue, you would see it at WOT, not cruising at 20-30.
To me, it would have to be the carb, that is were all the A/F metering is happening. How is your carb set up?

I never had the problem until I put the Heads, Cam and 1:6 rockers in. Timing set at 14 degrees. Set carb with vacuum gauge, best I could get was 13, Idle set at 1100 rpm. I don't know a lot about carbs had a friend set it up so I can't really tell you what it's set at.
Was wondering which way (on an Edelbrock carb) to set the AF, which way does what? Thanx Again

I am a Holley guy myself. But if you go to www.turbomustangs.com you will find a carb section with guys willing to help. Try searching first, but if you cant find your answere then ask. Since your carb is not blow thrue you probably will have to ask because most of the carb tech there is for boosted applications. Give as much detail as you can when asking questions. Give motor combo, tranny, fuel system, which carb, and describe speed, rpm, throttle position (idle/cruise/wot), ect. You wont be dissapointed.
