i'm looking at used TBs. I found a blue 05 EXT but it has 68,xxx miles. Looks great tho.I think it still has the warranty so it must have the new 5yr/100K mile warranty.

KBB.com shows a price of $16,800 for it. Any comments what i should look for on this that are known issues w/ the trailblazers?

also found an 03 EXT w/ 58K miles

Just a matter of taste here. I personally like the 03, prolly cause I'm biased, I have one, with those same options, factory running boards, 17" rims. I also like the pre 04 model year because of no air pump. Don't like the 02s cause of 1st year production...so what's left? LOL That color pops on the 03! Things to check.... 1) Sway bar end links, front & back. 2) Fan clutch 3) Ignition switch. I'm not the authority here.... but I'm getting there, I'm sure Joel & Max will have their input as well. I've only had mine since November and am still doing all the routine maintenence, to bring it up to my standard. The prob with used vehicles is, not like the old days, dealers get them from everywhere, not just locally. Bascially like any other per-owned auto...run a carfax history if you can to insure against flood damage. Good test drive, ensure everything works well without unusal noise. Research as much as you can, this forum is an excellent resource. You will be very happy with the ride, comfort and performance as all of us on here are. Good luck & keep us posted. Good pic BTW

GM supposedly improved the 4L60E transmission on ~2004 up; Stronger sun/reaction shell, etc. 2004+ also has a larger catalytic converter since they had problems with failed cats on 2002-03. I also suspect the air injection reaction system was added in 2004+ to improve cat life. 3rd row seating also takes away from rear storage space. The EXT models do have a heavier rear axle with larger diameter ring gear. They are heavier, so perfomance/handling suffer and they have more parts to break.

I wouldn't look at any pre-05 TB, as 05 saw some nice interior upgrades, such as much better seats, chrome door handles, better gear selector... For 06, the interior got better, with new plastics on the dash (and much nicer at that), better power window switches, TONS of insulation (so it is MUCH quieter at speed), etc. 06 also saw the introduction of standard stability control and a much nicer front end on LT models.

If you are looking at an EXT, I would be looking for one with the V8, particularly an 06. 05's with the V8 have the same engine too (with displacement on demand for fuel saving), however the lack of stability control can be a problem (my mom ran her TB into a hillside when she fishtailed - the backend can snap out quite unexpectedly). Also, short TB's seem to feel sturdier over bumps and certainly can handle turns MUCH better and the I6 has plenty of oomph for the short ones (02's are 270hp, 03-05's are 275hp, and 06+ are 291hp. all have 275lb-ft torque).

The 100k powertrain warranty should be on any TB that is a GM Certified Used and all 2007's. Standard warranty for everything else is 3 yr, 36k miles.

yeah i plan to get a carfax but i really dont want an 05 with 68K miles, thats alot. We have a 99 Montana EXT with the 3rd row seats so the wifes wants to stay with a 3rd row but i dont want another minivan. All depends on what the price is and how much i can bargain w/ them
