Ignition Module Snapping Noise

1994 Deville turns over but won't start. No voltage to spark plug wires. I hear a snapping sound coming from ignition module when I try and start the car. Question - has module gone bad? If so, anyone know how much time this takes and what steps are involved in replacing module? Any other parts I should be checking first? thanks much! Tim

A defective ignition module wouldn't make a snapping noise. That sounds like spark arcing. If your engine is a 4.9, the ignition coil in the cap may be shorting to ground.
