My driver side mirror is loose. The housing and the mirror itself are coming loose from the car. Is there a way to go in there and tighten the housing back up? I was hoping I could take the little speaker area off and get to it there. I have a 2000 SE.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Yes to access the mirror mounts is through the tweeter panel. It just pops off. Thiers 3 nuts that hold the mirror on.
Usually the studs that are into the plastic mirror gets broken/cracked. They sell pretty cheap on Ebay.
To totally "jerry rig" it you can drill a hole straight through where the studs are located and put a dome head bolt in, you can almost hang off those suckers
A little touch up paint and you'll hardly notice.....
hope that helps Tony!

Yes it helps! I didn't want to go pulling things apart. Will I also be able to tighten the housing this way? Thanks for the help!!

If its the nuts that are loose then yes you can tighten them.
But as I stated above if the plastic part of the mirror that the studs are screwed into is broken then they are not going to tighten up.

I had to do this on mine awhile back when my dads car door hit my mirror and busted a coupla the studs. I used 3/16ths flush aircraft bolts and drilled and countersunk the holes so the heads would fit flush. I then used aircraft quality self locking nuts on the bolts so they'll never come loose.

I took the tweeter panel off and pulled out the foam thing and tightened the 3 screws with a 10mm socket. It seems to have tightened the housing but the mirror still vibrates pretty good. If I was to take the whole housing off the car can I get in to tighten the mirror???

I see, You might be able to but the inside is held in with torx screws.... though I dont think you can get to the with out removing the glass mirror.
If I'm not mistaken the insides are put in with no mirror, thiers holes through the plastic mirror plate, thus giving someome a place to assemble them in the factory.
You can always try :grinyes:
Good Luck
