I had a really nasty virus and I had to recover, and my college internet was disconnected, a big ordeal, but the thing that pissed me off the most, I saved the files I wanted to keep on my 160GB NetDisk and now, I plug it in and it recognizes the storage but doesn't display it in My Computer. I only plugged it in on my friend's PC and the same thing happened. I really need to get these files.

So how do you know it recognizes the storage but you can't see the drive show up in My Computer? Do you get the "Removable device" icon or a window that asks you what to do with the device when it is connected?

Did you try getting some drivers for the removable drive.

downloading now, I'll see if it works, the thing is this is an auto-detect model, works on a lot of pcs readily.

have you tried using a "proper" usb port and not off a hub?
sometimes, if you've got too many devices plugged in, things like usb drives don't like working properly.

It's not a hub, it's the actual USB port, There's 6 I think. Anyway I installed the website's driver and went to register the hardware (cannot communicate with device)...are you f%$^$ kidding me??

Check Device Manager to check if it's installed properly, most USB drives don't need drivers in XP.

Then have a look in Disk Management to see what it says under the USB removable storage device, it could have assigned it a drive letter that you have assigned to a network share, or it could have problems and need you to do something further.

That should be impossible because I just restored my computer, and because it wouldn't work on my friend's pc either.

I think OZ is right. I think you have a the removable drive using the same drive letter as another drive. All you need to do is change the drive letter. Also, if there is some sort of partition problem it will tell you in there.

Look in the disk manager.
