Tire Size

Does anybody know the maximum tire size I can put under my non-modified Avalanche without getting any tire rub what-so-ever?

I have a stock, non-lifted, non-torsion bar cranked, straight-up stock 2002 Z-71 Avalanche with stock 17" rims. I am looking at putting 285/70/R17 BF Goodies TA/KO under my truck, but I do not want any tire rub at all, not even when I crank the steering wheel all the way in either direction.

Has anybody put these skins under their truck, and if so, did you like them and did they rub at all?

Thanks for the info,

Ok....if nobody is running 285/70/17, then what size tires is anybody using and how do you like them?

Your local tire shop should be able to help you with it.
The old school rule of the thumb is not to go over one bigger tire size.

So what size tire is everybody else running? Anybody tried to use 285/70/17's yet, and if so, are you rubbing? I have stock 265/70/17's and do not rub at all (obviously) but I'm going to step it up real soon. Stock tires just don't fill those gigantic wheel wells enough for me.

Did not know that they ran 17's on a 02. My wife has a '04 and it came w/ 265/70r16 and we are running 265/75r16's. Much taller on a factory truck and you will get rub on hard bumps.
