It mostly likely your lock-up solenoid for your transmission I had the same problem I recommending changing it, its fairly easy to change :). Just need mechanicial and wiring skills to complete the task. It will be located in a pan on your driver's front side. Take that off it will be located on the bottom, change it and replace it with new one... put it back together it should fix the problem.

While I'm not sure what the problem is, I can guarantee you that its not a TCC Solenoid issue. S/he didn't even describe the symptoms of a bad solenoid, s/he described something completely different.

Maybe your fuel injectors are clogged or dirty. You could try some sea foam,tune-up in a bottle or just a bottle of regular fuel injector cleaner,it just costs maybe $1.00 or more a bottle depending on which brand you get and all the brands work just as good. I recommend putting it in your gas tank before filling up.it seems to work better that way and all other gas additives. I know from experience!

When was the last time you changed spark plugs? another question is are they gapped correctly? mine are gapped at 60,yours is probably different if its not a 94. mine is a 94 with 4 cylinders. They aren't hard to change, just be sure not to cross thread them! Do you know what brand your spark plugs are? I seriously recommend autolite,i have no problems with autolite and they are cheap! I look forward to hearing back from you!

Sorry, didn't mean to talk like u were dumb or something. As a matter of fact,i just started having trouble with my 94 cavalier rs and i'm no better off than u are now. I'm having to keep my foot on the gas to keep it running while moving and for some reason it'll idle fine while sitting still! I put in brand new spark plugs yesterday and it didn't help 1 bit. It seems like i got a vacumm leak somewhere,i can feel it while messing under the hood, but i dont know where its coming from. I think i've decided to put it out of commission,it won't fix itself and my seats are so worn,i can't even get comfortable driving down the interstate and can't find anyone to at least redo the driver's seat. Besides, probably by the time i get through with paying parts and labor,i might as well get a newer 1! I hope you don't blame me! Tomorrow,i'm going to look at some newer cavaliers, maybe 95 or 96. maybe find something for 2 or 3 thousand. In case you're wondering how i'm going shopping for a car,it will run in the morning for some reason. Get back with me if you want to. I'm still a cavalier lover!

nah dont worry about it i wasnt trying to come off all sarcastic and sounding like an A**hole i really do appreciat all the help. i talked to a buddy of mine who is an autotech and he was saying it could be my fuel filter. maybe that is whats wrong with your car, but since your going out and getting a new one i guess it doesnt realy matter now. well keep me up to date on how your car hunt is going.

Hi! I didn't get another car afterall. I couldn't find anything I liked. I barely made it to my local auto salvage yard with my 94 cavalier. No,the fuel filter and pump was fine, but that was a good guess! My vacumm lines were not connected. I dont know how they got off. They reconnected them for free and don't tell anyone. Also,my fuel injectors were badly clogged and throttle was sticking. Here is what i used to clean my injectors:2 bottles of gas mileage improver and 3 bottles of fuel injector cleaner. It took 3 different fill-ups to completely clean the fuel system. I've been 1,000 miles since and no trouble or nothing. Before,it just would not start unless i hit the gas. Oh yea,i cleaned my throttle body with carburater cleaner and lubricated it with wd-40. Don't doubt the cheap fuel additives, they work. sometimes, its necessary for retreatment. It may be old,but i still keep up with those bad boys! thats if you know what I mean.

hey good deal man. my car started acting up the same way as yours, not starting unless you give it gas, so i just cleaned the throtle body as well and no problems. but after reading your success story i guess im just gonna have to hit it hard w/ the fuel systems cleaners. now when you used all that stuff did you put it in all at once or just treatment after treatment?

Hey guys,
My Cav is jerking at 40-60Km when gas held at steady speed. I have tried plugs and wires. The previous owner tried new injectors.(mpfi) I also put in a new fuel filter. still no fix. It has 243,000 Km's on it and am gonna try a new timing belt. I'll let ya know how that goes. I can't thing of anything else it could be. Any Ideas?
