i just had my car in the dealership have new brake pads and rotors turned.( of course the said it was out of warranty after 12,000 miles.) my car just turned 17,000 miles. I think this is crazy. I had my car checked in Aug for the brakes and they turned the rotors then.
Is anyone else having this problem?

everyone is - there's an updated pad for this problem - your dealership should have explained this to you and that the new pads should last much longer (if they used the new ones)

Ford FIVEHUNDRED and the FREESTYLE all have this issue. There is a TSB, but it only covers repairs for 1 year or 12,000 miles from Warranty start date.

This might help you in the future, I don't own any Fords anymore but the car I do have is a 1999 Suzuki Esteem, it constantly went through brake pads and had a bad squealing problem too that never went away. I ended up replacing the organic brake pads with ceramic brakes, they last a LOT longer now and the squealing went away and never came back.
