I have a 96 blazer with 4.3l engine. The lower intake gasket has started to leak and i would like to change it myself. i was wondering if i need any special tools or if there is something that i should know before i attempt the job. thanks.

Mark everything you take off, put tape on both the wire/hose and what it connects to and write a number on them. I have to do this or can't remember what goes where some times. You will need a torque wrench for the intake manifold bolts. Get a manual for the truck, like Haynes, because it will have the proper order to tighten the intake manifold bolts and their torques. When you are scraping old gasket off the heads lay some clean rags over the valley, space between the heads, to keep pieces out. Replace your oil when the job is done and before starting the truck for the first time, pieces and antifreeze will get in there no matter what you do. Make sure to disconnect the battery so there is no chance of your fuel pump turning on. Only other thing is take how long you think it will take you and multiply by 3, that seems to be accurate for me.

Also good idea to have a good repair manual for torque specs and help along the way.
And if coolant in the oil make sure you change oil.
Good Luck MT.
