99 Jimmy 4.3l 130,000Km

The drivers door will not lock , power locks actuate, but door lock comes back up (like it thinks the key is in the ignition) ,pass door locks thou!

Retained accessory power is gone (ie Radio turns off as soon as key is taken out of ignition)
AND ... the interior lights stay on, like it thinks a door is open.
This all happened at the same time

I'm thinking it may be a special relay or something, hope someone can lead me in the right direction

I dont know about the Jimmy, but on my wife's car, a Ford Taurus, her dome light was stuck on, and i sprayed some WD-40 in the door mechanism, and it fixed it. On alot of newer cars, they put the switch for the dome light in there. as far as the locks, you could have a bad ground going to the door. On my jimmy, it broke inside the boot that goes from the door to the truck. Bad grounds can cause weird things to happen. Hope it helps a little.

That sounds like it could be the issue. Since the retained acc stops when you open the door, it may think that the door is open. Does the dome light ever go out? The door not locking seems strange since, like you said, it should only do that when the key is in the ignition.

The interior light stays on ALL the time .. luckily the jimmy has the dome override switch to turn them off !

The door switch works, because the chime will go on when I open the door with the key in the ignition.

I guess I'll take the door apart, and check the power lock actuator for a bad ground as suggested

Thanks for the suggestions

Found the problem :D

The door lock (inside the door) has the actuator on it, as well as a limit switch on a gear. Of course it's plastic, and it was broken.

I disconnected the power line for the actuator, and everything works fine now (except the 'power' lock for that door.

$275 cdn for a dealer part ... guess I'll check the junk yards now

Thanks for the advice guys , and if anyone is taking their door apart, give me a shout !
