Im about to start the Mazda 787b tamiya kit. just wondering how difficult the decals are to put on? Ive never made a kit with so many decals. Should i expect a lot of sweat and frustration putting the decals on??

Thanks in advance
Frank

They aren't difficult, just a lot of them. If you paint the green on you'll save yourself some headache with the decals.

I've built two, both times using the decals (including the green). Like Veyron said, not difficult. A mild decal solvent will help a lot, as will patience, and expect to be decaling a little at a time for a few days. Making sure you let them dry after each application will make the job much easier, especially where they overlap or touch... - Mark

I have no doubt someone like scale-master could do the details just fine, but I for one wish I had painted the green instead.

the decals were quite easy, the body doesn't really have any bad angles and all the decals go on fine.

the only thing that gets annoying is the white dotted lines. its just putting the correct number on each spot.

cheers, yeah ive got the paints ready, and im ready to start...

What tools are the best to use to mix colours minimising wastage?? the kit requires a few mixing of paints for some parts....

also is tamiya clear fine to use to spray over the decals once they are all on? or will it eat into the decals?

I find that TS-13 can sometimes eat the decals and sometimes it doesnt, not sure why but i think you have to do like 5 or so really really light coats, then just do 3 heavier ones?

I think thats how it goes...

Hmmm..I think it's throwing VERRRY light coats from a good distance...Do a lot of coats that way...5-6...
I did a mist not from a safe distance...Then,guess why my Xanavi R34 is gone from my sig?! :(

now im unsure what to do with that stage....i would like clear over everything but not at the risk of ruining it all
:S...i just dont want the decals to decay with age quickly

Relaaaaaaaaaax dude...I ruined my R34 because I sprayed too close, starting with a mist...And The body was painted with acrylics. Soooo, the result wasn't soo good... But,if you start with a light coat, from 15-20 cm,that will not attack the decals.
