Are you talking about the JDM 3-Stage vtec engine? Or are you talking about the USDM '92-'95 VX engine? You sure you mean D15B?

Edit: I looked on Honda's Japanese website and I found out the 3-stage vtec engine has 130ps (roughly 128hp).
The USDM D15Z1 ('92-'95 VX engine) has 92hp.

I'm pretty sure you mean the D15b that came out of jdm 92-95 civics. Its obd-1 and according to hmotorsonline has 130 hp.

It's the 3-stage vtec D15B, and yes it has 128hp (130ps). It's different than the '92-'95 D15B vtec (the one closest to our usdm d16z6), but it does share the same hp rating.

But honestly, it's not really worth it for the economy part, especially in a 4th gen civic or crx. It will be a wiring nightmare; converting from OBD0 to OBD2, and then finding a wiring diagram online to wire up the 3-stage vtec.

Valve covers are interchangeable. I guess the only way you're going to find out for sure is if you install it and dyno.

I'm lost for words. I really have no clue what that engine is. It seems to realy be vtec-e though; look at the size of the intake manifold and the addition of the EGR. Let me do some more searching around on Honda's japanese web site, and I'll post back if I find anything for ya. Here's a link to their Civic section if you want to look around it yourself (just use an online translator): http://www.honda.co.jp/HOT/ModelData/civic/index.html

Edit: Well here it is: http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/trurl_pagecontent?lp=ja_en&trurl=http%3a%2f%2fwww.honda.co.jp%2fHOT%2fModelDa ta%2fcivic%2f92cv-k-109a%2feti_sy.html
It's basically just the JDM version of the USDM VX engine (D15Z1). And it has 92hp. It really would have been nice if Honda had used different engine codes for their JDM engines, instead of just D15B.

That looks more like a 96-2000 Civic HX motor to me.

I should've known it was a true vtec-e by the size of the IM. Whoops. Sorry.

Yes it come from 96-00 Hx

ummm..no it doesn't. If it did it wouldn't have a D15B engine code and it'd be OBD2. Are you sure it's an OBD1? Don't go by what the seller told you, go by the date on the head and the connector(s) on the distributor. 2 connectors for the distributor = OBD1, 1 connector = OBD2 (A or B, depending on how it's pinned).

You're friend doesn't know what he's talking about. It's a jdm engine because it is stamped d15b. I don't know if they badged civics in Japan HX or not but either way. Listen to CivicSpoon. Look at the dizzy connector pin and the head date stamp to see obd.

BTW, if you have the car and the engine, do the swap, wire up the 3 or 4 extra wires for obd1 vtec, get a better IM. If the 3 stage vtec-e won't work that way, swap heads with a z6. I'm sure you can get it to work with various parts thrown together but I wouldn't run anything obd2 because you're just asking for headaches.

Not quite sure that's the three stage VTEC engine... it has a very funky looking dual solenoid assembly in place of your standage VTEC solenoid assembly.... and I'm not seeing that in either of those pictures.

In which case, since it's a 96-2000 head/block you can still use all of your OBD0 equipment if you want, since the distributor, intake manifold, ect. will all bolt up... or if you want to convert everything to OBD1, you can do that too.

the dizzy will not bolt up to that engine guy............u need a 92-95 dizzy.u can mickey mouse it if want but i wouldnt. check the head for any stampings and than research. dont listen to the guy above me...

:shakehead
If it's a 92-95 motor, the distributor will not bolt up with out some 'mickey mousing' of the head.... if it's a 96-2000 motor, it will bolt up just fine.
Looks like a 96-2000 model cylinder head to me.:screwy:

And there's nothing wrong with listening to me... I've probably done several more engine swaps, and obd-conversions than you have.... I have 6 civics in my drive way ranging from 1990 models, to 1998 models... I have just a little bit of experience with what I'm talking about. :smooch:

Not a clue... double check your wiring....... might want to list exactly how you converted your harness and what components you are and aren't using.

www.helminc.com go there, buy a manual for your car, and a manual for whatever car your engine came from (or the closest equivolent).

Other than that, I don't know of any wiring diagrams online to link you to... maybe someone else has something they can post up later.

do a search on google and find a manual to download, make sure to get it for the engine that's closest to yours (since it's jdm). So your best bet is to actually find out what engine it is (especially make sure it is infact an OBD2).
