It's been done

Well, what can I say... I did it. I went to the VW dealer and leased a Jetta. They gave me three grand for the Rodeo, I'm sure I could have gotten more for it through a private party sale, but i just don't have the time for that.

The Jetta is nice, couldn't get my first choice in color, dark grey, but got my second choice. A nice greyish-blue. The reason for the small choice in color was the factory iPod dock, that blue was the only one with it. A lot of nice features on this ride and a nice and peppy 5 cylinder engine. 5 speed and a moonroof, exactly what I've been missing these last five years. Leather(fake,actually), in-dash 6 disk cd/mp3, heated seats, heated mirrors and a host of other creature comforts I'll never use. I like it a lot. Only thing I don't like is having a payment. Can't have everything we want though.


I'd like to thank all on this forum, I learned a ton from all here. Amigo2k, that FAQ's page you made is a great resource. When I first got the Rodeo I studied that thing more than I ever did in college. I still do. It saved me when my wipers went on the fritz and gave me the confidence to tackle it myself. When my IMG's went, the shop hadn't a clue, the people here were spot on. Same with my cat's, I believe it was Amigo2k who pointed me in the direction of an ebay deal on two new cat's. Saved me a ton. I learned on here that a junkyard EGR from an old GM would work. Total cost on that was $15. Tons of money saved. Most important, this place taught me to do a lot myself.

Thank you to all, this is the best forum on all of AF, without a doubt. I miss the Rodeo already. But, sometimes you need to move forward.

I also have a new set of rear pads from st. charles I never used. I'm looking to get rid of them as I know longer need them. The pads have all lube and associated parts. I also have a few wiper relays if people need them, the thing with those they are at my parents house in Buffalo, NY (I'm in Baltimore). I'm going back in a few days, if I remember them, who ever wants them can have them.

Whats the deal with isuzus and vw? An unusually high number of isuzu owners either owned, own, or end up going to a vw. SOME PROOF (http://forum.planetisuzoo.com/viewtopic.php?t=3036).

I always wish I had the money to "beef" up the Rodeo. If I had the money I'd have kept the Rodeo and lifted it.

I was happy with the deal and I love the looks of it too. During the test drive I thought it was a real fun car to drive.

I don't think the pads are the same.

I was always happy with the Rodeo, but I've always liked to switch it up. My dad brought me up to think a car is no good after 100k. I know it's not true, but it is ingrained in my brain. I always think a large repair is around the corner. If it was, I'd be mad I didn't buy new earlier.

Since I was in high school I loved the Rodeo's and Troopers. When my dad and I were at a car shhow when the Vehicross came out I fell in love with that. I wish they still made them, quite possibly the coolest SUV ever. I can't say it enough, I will miss it. I wish I would have kept it one more night, but I brought home the Jetta for an over-night test drive.

I'll try to post up some pictures when I have some time. I'll deffinately keep checking around here, this is just a fun forum to read. I haven't really posted much since I moved last summer, but I still check it out here a few times a day.

Moving on over to the Vortex, huh? That is a great forum. It's probably the biggest reason I stay with VW. You can get any question answered quickly there.

I got to take a new Jetta down to the beach when my wife's Cabrio was in the shop, shortly after they came out. I loved the 5 cylinder's power. My Jetta is only a 4 cylinder and produces 105 hp, so it seems really slow in comparison.

My first Jetta was an '89; a second generation with the 1.8L 4 cylinder, and it was the dark gray you were looking for. That car was hit 5 times standing still (parked or rear ended), and I blame it on the color blending into the asphalt! Glad you got something different. Good luck with it!
