Okay, so I haven't been around the forums as much lately because school has been so busy and I am selling my DSM soon. I'll be in a radiology program the next 2 years and will be doing a lot of driving. I need something more dependable and a little better on gas. I really am looking for somehthing 4 door, all leather. Thats a whole new topic. I'm selling my car to a buddy of mine for 3,500. The problem is...

When I go to start my car at times(not everytime), it will crank for about 30 seconds before it finally starts up. I noticed it a couple months ago but it seemed to only do it when i was near a quarter tank of gas left. Today it did it with almost a full tank. I am going to put fresh plugs in it next week to see if that helps. I really think it may be a fuel issue. Maybe my fuel pump? Or would a old fuel filter cause this? I need some idea's here.

Also, maybe this problem is related but here and there, my car will start to sputter but only during normal cruising and what I do is... I let go of the gas and then give it a gas again and its gone. The other day it did it bad and wouldn't go away, my rpm's went down super lower and the car was shaking bad. I gave it gas a couple times and it "snapped" out of it and went back to normal idle. That was bad. I was just thinking how I won't be able to sell it for any money if I don't solve these issues. Thanks for the help guys.

Don't worry either, after school, I'm sure Ill jump into a used evo as a second car once I can afford to buy 2 cars and afford the insurance. I love DSMs too much to totally let go.

Give it a tune up and see if that helps. DEFINITELY change the fuel filter if it's old though.

EDMUND, What problems did your n/a exactly have that were similar too mine?

Yea, I will start with the plugs and then maybe get the filter done also.

When random problems arise concerning 1g's, I always recommend that people pull the ECU and take a really good look at it. It's also a good idea to give it a good smell. If it smells like rotten fish, the caps are leaking.

Not sure if these are related but.. Mine will start up the first time I try any time, but if i turn it off and run into a store for 5 minutes, it will sit there and turn over but not start right away, I usually let off the key and then turn it again and it will start... does that sound anywhere similar to what you had?
