94 Ranger 2WD V6 4.0L with FS10 compressor R-134a refrigerant. Replacing the compressor. Compressor from AutoZone (CompressorWorks Inc.) comes dry, need to add lubricant.

Does anybody know how much PAG oil and what viscosity (46, 100 or 150) I need for this compressor?

Thanks much.

I suppose you know you have to vacate the system first and it would be prudent to replace your filter drier also. Autozone should be able to give you the info (re: oil and reefer) on type and how much. Many of the 134 kits already have the C oil mixed with the reefer.

Yes, thank you. I asked the AutoZone and finally found somebody that knows how to read their system.

7 oz of PAG 46.

The compressor manufacturer also requires flush, vacuum and receiver accumulator/drier and expansion valve/orifice tube to be replaced at the time of installation if you want warranty.

And this compressor comes dry because it can be used with R-12 or R-134a refrigerants. It just doesnt say what capacity and viscosity of the oil because I guess it's car dependent.

Thanks and hope this helps other guys.
